Interaction Design (Fall '15) App Design. I was given the following task for this project- App: Ember Description: Smart Appliances have become some of 2015/16’s most promising devices. The appliances (refrigerator, stove, grill etc.) are designed to connect directly to your smartphone via Bluetooth. What happens if you have a perfectly fine Weber grill you purchased a year ago? Sure, there are thermometer apps that inform the user to their food temperature, but doesn’t set or control the appliance. Ember solves these problems. Ember connects to the grills electric starter and to the user’s iPhone. The user is able to start their grill through their app, set their desired temperature, how many burners they would like to use, and the duration of cooking; or, the user can download a recipe from Ember’s database and the grill will set everything for the user. Once the food is cooked, the user is informed through their phone’s notifications.
